Prophecy
God most often speaks to us through the Word of God (known as scripture), or the Bible. While this Word of God is the holy word of God, God can/does reveal Himself to us personally, and this is done sometimes through visions and dreams--yes He can!
Our Father God can most thoroughly be known through the study of scripture, and it is essential for us to learn of Him through scripture, as scripture alone teaches all things pertaining to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). Yet, there are things outside of that which are the secrets of God, which only God knows (Deuteronomy 29:29). Those things, God can reveal according to His will, whether that be encouraging words, or a word for someone else, or as relates to a knowledge of future events….when we call upon Him, according to prophecy given in Joel 2:28 where His Spirit would be poured out on all believers in the latter days (which applies to all believers in Christ today!).
And what else has He said and promised us? "Thus says the Lord (Yahweh) who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it, the Lord (Yahweh) is His name, ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ Jeremiah 33:2-3.
